Cheder & Adult Education

Our Children... Our Future...

We aim to provide a warm and friendly environment for all our children, promoting Jewish values through participation in a fun environment

Children from the age of 6 years old (on 1st September) are encouraged to enroll at Cheder

Classes are held at the Synagogue on Sunday mornings set around Nottingham's mainstream school terms.

Time table

10:00am - 10:15am    Havdalah Service
10:15am - 11:15am    Jewish Studies.

11:15am - 11:30am    Break
11:30am - 12:30am    Hebrew Studies





Our objective is to help and prepare Students

  • Complete their learning, concluding with the ceremony of Kabblat Torah.
  • Through their GCSE Religious Studies - Judaism
  • To be confident to take a mitzvah, when being called up for services
  • Keep hold of their interest in Jewish knowledge, life and values.
  • Become Cheder assistants, after completing Kabblat Torah

There are currently 3 Cheder Shabbat's a year (one per term), which start at 10:00 am, with a 15 minute break before the main service at 11:00am involving the students.

Adult Education

There is a thriving Adult Education Programme including topics such as Basic & Advanced Hebrew, Jewish History, Philosophy and Jewish Cookery
