It is an opportunity to study creatively, hear new music and share favourite tunes; make art together and hear from our Liberal Jewish rabbis and teachers, as well as a chance to share ideas with other communities about best practice and an opportunity to be inspired.
Choose a track (or mix & match) from Parenting, Study, Art & Music, or Community Sessions include: Pregnancy and Mythology, Mixed Faith Parenting, The Prophetic Roots of Liberal Judaism's Vision, Architecture of the Sanctuary, How Music can Create and Preserve Communities, Launching the Resource Bank, a Chance to Meet Other Liberal Judaism members as well as Congregational Chairs, Treasurers and Head Teachers.

What Can You Expect
Liberal Judaism's Mike Beral put together a fantastic video from the day of Celebration in 2011 that captures the spirit and essence of the hugely successful day. Workshops, discussions, dance sessions, film showings, LJY-Netzer and so much more can be seen, so if you missed out on the day, or just want to relive some of the great highlights
BIKE TO BRUM – DAY OF CELEBRATION CHALLENGEIf you want to choose a healthier mode of transport, which is also better for the environment, why not join Rabbi Aaron Goldstein on his bike ride to Birmingham. 'Bike to Brum' starts at 1pm from Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue on Saturday 8th June. There will be an overnight stay somewhere near Warwick and you will arrive in time for Liberal Judaism's Day of Celebration at 10am on the Sunday 9th June - where you will be suitably rewarded and cheered for your efforts. By pure coincidence this coincides with World Jewish Relief's challenge event 'Nightrider' So help raise money for great cause whilst at the same time improving your fitness and being kinder to the environment.
May 11th
7pm, at NPJ
Reel Israel Film Night Film night comprises of home made (Tali Levy extraordinaire) felafel and the trimmings, an Israeli film called 'Late Marriage' with a brief intro, followed by discussion in between mouthfuls of pudding. Everyone welcome. There will be rugs with cushions to get comfy, middle-eastern style, so you are welcome to bring your bean bags, big cushions and other.
Please RSVP - join us on facebook The Reel Israel Film Night Nottingham - or risk there not being enough felafel to go around (a tragedy before the drama starts)
Film details (extract from UK Jewish Film Festival):
An acutely observed gem of a movie. Family tyranny and tradition frame this complex drama which is both heart rending and humorous. The film is set in an immigrant community where a man over 30 who is not married or begun to produce children, threatens to disgrace his family. Zaza (Lior Ashkenazi - Walk on Water, Eli & Ben) is an eligible bachelor whose family are determined to see him married to a young virgin according to their Georgian (former USSR) Jewish traditions.
However unknown to his family, Zaza has already met the love of his life, although fiery Morrocan beauty Judith (Ronit Elkabetz - The Band's Visit, Jaffa) is a divorcee with a six-year-old daughter. At the core of the film Koshashvili directs an erotic bedroom scene, with Zaza and Judith, which remains unrivalled in international cinema. The passion of their sexual chemistry is mirrored throughout the film by the extreme ties of parental intrusion into his affairs.

Cheder

Exciting news! We launched a reception class in our Cheder!
It is open to all our members and their children aged 4 to 6 on a drop off basis for those children who are 5 and 6 years old, for those who are 4 (or 5 if necessary at the first few classes) a supervised attendance by one parents will be required.
During the first hour 10.15-11.15 the children will do craft activities with various educational focus on either Jewish studies (mostly festival cycle) or Hebrew letters. For example, learning some letters and a few words during the year through colouring and solving puzzles or repeating the pattern of the word.
During the break 11.15-11.35 the children will join the rest of the Cheder. We hope it will help them to get to know the place and other children well so by the time they will start the Cheder on a regular basis it will become for them a familiar place with a few older friends around.
The second hour will focus mostly on games (please bring their favourite ones along) with some Hebrew learning for those who will choose it over their playing time. (am I a dreamer?:))
The reception class will be available through the whole academic year during the Cheder dates and it is NOT compulsory for the children to attend it on a regular basis - only when your child/ren or you wish to do so.
We look forward to welcoming our little ones into the Cheder in September!
